Our Mission
About EyeControl
Our mission is to improve outcomes and protect cognitive health in critical care by delivering meaningful communication, engagement, and support through tools that adapt to each stage of recovery.
We envision a new standard of care that looks beyond survival, championing cognitive, emotional, and physical recovery as essential outcomes of critical illness.

Our Story
The Beginning
EyeControl began with a deeply personal goal: to give a voice to people who could not speak, including those living with serious neurological conditions such as ALS.
Extending the mission to critical care
During the COVID-19 pandemic, critical care revealed widespread communication gaps, isolated patients, and strained care teams.
Supporting care at scale
Today, EyeControl helps hospitals support recovery, reduce risk, and strengthen connections between patients, families, and medical teams, while also supporting care in the home.
Today, guided by experience and care
Shaped by personal experience and clinical expertise, the platform is designed to provide clarity, comfort, and engagement, even in the most complex care environments.

Our Inspiration

Shay Rishoni,
EyeControl Co-founder
Shay (1966-2018), company co-founder, military colonel (ret.), pilot, seasoned executive, Iron Man, and ALS patient.

Julie Kaplan
Julie, the beloved grandmother of Or Retzkin, our CEO and co-founder, lost her ability to communicate shortly after being diagnosed with ALS. Her experience served as the inspiration for his mission to develop a communication solution for those facing similar challenges.

Asher Shemesh
Asher suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which affected his mobility and communication abilities.
He was a friend of our CTO and co-founder, Itai Korngerb, who inspired him to find a communication solution for locked-in patients.

Rachel Elkind
Jim is an investor and valued partner at EyeControl. His wife, Rachel (1946–2015), lived with ALS. An educator at Facing History and Ourselves, she dedicated her career to helping teachers and students stand up to bigotry.

Tzvika Lavi
Tzvika Lavi, a master sergeant who fell during reserve duty at the age of 30, was a devoted family man who left behind a wife and three young children. A compassionate social worker, he believed deeply in listening, human goodness, progress, and the power of small, meaningful change.
EyeControl honours Tzvika’s memory through The Next October initiative, in which each participating organization commits to carrying forward the values of one individual, civilian or soldier, lost in the October 2023 war.

Avshalom Sorek
Tal kellner with her grandfather Avshalom, who lived with ALS. Tal’s lived experience helped shape the early development of EyeControl.
